New hosting plan signed

14 January, 2006 (23:28) | General, Site news | By: Andreas

And so it is done! I signed up for the new hosting plan, after careful consideration and hours of reading host reviews. But at the end of it, the nice features made the decision easy: 12 gigabytes of storage space, 500 gigabytes of monthly traffic, free domain included (with all one or two year plans) so many extras that I could never list them all even if I tried. And the price: $4.50 per month ($108 for the two year plan). Compared to the hosting alternatives available here in Sweden, that is almost unbelievable…

So, who is the host? Their name is SiteGround and they claim to have "the fastest tech support in the world". That is probably true. Thanks to the live chat, I got my answers within seconds. This page is still shown from my old host, but very soon I will go live from the SiteGround server park. So far, everything looks great. Switching soon, let's hope for the best!

Just what I wanted to know. Thanks Andreas.

Good deal. Hopefully they don't suck completely.

I've pretty much lost faith in most hosting-companies, and especially the ones who offer loads of stuff for very little money.

But if it works out för you, excellent!

I'm prepared to take the chance considering the price.

My current host provides 500mb and "unlimited" bandwidth. Of course unlimited does not mean unlimited as I have found out!

No, of course it doesn't. SiteGround says 500gb per month. Probably with some fine print that I haven't found yet, but it is still a lot more than what "unlimited" is to many hosting companies. If SiteGround can will live up to half of what they promise, I'd still be happy. If they live up to everything, they would be the perfect host…

Ainslie: Did you just sign up? I just got a notice saying that my hosting plan has been extended with 3 free months since someone signed up through the referral link in this entry. That is a really nice deal. Anyone who can send four new customers to SiteGround per year, will get the hosting for free (except for the domain fee). I should have chosen the one year plan. ;)

Yes that was me! Though it a good idea to sign up through your link.

After all, it costs me no more and gives a little something to you for all your hard work.

It seems a good way of supporting your efforts. You may end up free hosting after all. :-)

That cheap for that much? They gotta cram like 1000 people on each server or something…
