On my way to Luleå
Today was the first day in almost two weeks when I didn't wake up because of the pain. Instead, little River (who is growing up fast!) went wild in the bedroom and made it impossible to stay in bed. The jaw is slowly getting better, but I've still been forced to go through a second 5-day antibiotics cure since the first five days was not enough. It keeps me tired, slow and mostly away from the computer, but there is nothing else to do than wait for things to get better.
However, I'm still preparing for a one-day trip to LuleÃ¥ for some christmas shopping. I have wanted to go there for weeks, but for several reasons it hasn't been possible to do until today. I will take off in about an hour, together with Johanna, my father and both the dogs. We will only be away for a few hours, but it still feels like a huge project when the energy level is this low…
When I get back home, I will continue to work on these things (and 8 other templates!). I know that this is another teaser. But atleast this one shows that there are actually templates waiting for release! The top right template is the modular one, by the way.

Carl,
The middle left one is included in MODx 0.9.5, as are other variations of it and some other Andreas themes. I was suprised to see them in there, I always wondered why Andreas' name was featured on the front page of MODx.

Andreas, that looks fantastic. Will be very interested in seeing how you did the modular template on the top right. The one top left looks very good as well. I will learn a lot from your templates for my future designs.

CoolGoose: Yes, it was based on the layout of andreas02. But it has still been completely rewritten - and improved in several ways. There is a test version of it online, so those who want to preview it can ask me for the url. It will get colors before the release though. And multiple layouts as well.
Carl: Middle left can be seen on several MODx sites, just like hcgtv says. It is included as one of the default templates in MODx 0.9.5. It is one out of six templates in the Fashion series that I will release soon, and it comes with multiple layouts as well.
Gerhard: The modular template is the one that still has most work left to do. It is a very simple concept, so don't expect anything cool from it. The best thing with it will be that it includes a whole lot of different layouts…
Mitch: That one is known as "jokkmokk", and it is already available for users of StyleMaster 4.5 (and newer versions).

By the way, some of the new templates are heavily inspired by Luka's work. I have borrowed a number of ideas from him, where one thing is to leave numbered releases behind in favor of usage-oriented names (like his "Internet" series).
Keep on working Luka, every release gives me new ideas. ;)

Andreas, I have been thinking much about how to choose design names as well. I work more with template series, where several templates are built upon the same design concept or code structure. Each new template in such a series receives the name of the series and then a template number, like my series Multiflex-1/2/3/4. In this way the user knows, that all Multiflex templates have some common features on the code and design level, even though they may look differently in appearance. When you have many templates, this makes it easier for the user to get an overview of your portfolio. I am planning another design series in future, called Easyflex, built upon a different design concept, and all templates related to this new design concept will get the numbers 1/2/3/… and so forth. In this way the user knows that if he is looking for an easy and flexible template, then this would be template series to look for. In the car industry you have the same ideas. You have seveal series names, like Volvo V-series, and then V70, V50 and so on as a part of this series. Doing it this way for templates as well, gives the user a better overview how your templates belong to a certain concept or design technique.
Of course, if you only have one template for each design concept, then you can just as well go for usage-oriented names. However, as a designer I prefer not to tell the user how to apply my template, that is why I refrain from usage-oriented names, instead preferring generic names that describe the capabilities, but not the usage, of the template. Take for example my Multiflex, the name expresses that it is a flexible template with a multitude of options, but the name does not specify for what the user can apply the template. The upcoming series Easyflex is another example, where the name tells the user that it is a flexible, but easy to manage template.
Andreas, can't wait to see your templates.
