New music download site
Once upon a time, MP3.com was the best free music site in the world. It hosted hundreds of thousands of free songs, and it was an amazing place to find new artists and get many hours of free music to enjoy. I was very active on MP3.com when it was at its best around 2000-2001, and I had the luck to see several of the songs that Lagoona released climb high on the download charts. But when MP3.com was closed down, none of the many replacement sites could live up to the old quality, and the community was shattered and spread out all over the web…
Since then, I have tried lots of different music distribution sites in order to find a good place to put my music. So far, I haven't found any new favorite. But today I found PureVolume.com, a simple and very elegant site that appears to do exactly what I want a free music site to do! I have signed up and created my own artist page where I have uploaded a number of songs just to see how the site works. Feel free to check it out! You can stream the songs directly using the on-site song player, and there are direct download links for each of the songs directly on the front page. No registration is required for listening or downloading!
I'll try it for a while, and if it works well I will upload as many songs as the account allows me to (currently 35). I may possibly create an account for Lagoona as well, since I have been looking for that kind of comfortable streaming/download feature for a long time without finding the right service to use. But I need your feedback. Please let me know what download speeds you have, and if you encounter any problems with listening or downloading the songs. If you discover that you like the site, you can also sign up for a "listener" account to subscribe for updates and newsletters from the artists you like…
Ready? Then move on to my new music page!
I almost forgot: Thanks to DJ Tsar 404 who told me about this site! Check out his songs as well, "Bagpipes" and "Prisonwall" are great examples of how free music can be better than commercial music…

I like that website and had my music up there for a little while. I was using a different name at the time (Tlmart) and the band name I had used is now defunct. I had forgotten about that place pretty much entirely until someone started messaging me and this post that I read via my AvantGo client.

great! my dad doesnt let me download songs off the internet, so finally i can listen to them! i must say they are amazing. "Riders Unite!" is the best song, and "she" sounds like something from a video game. I didn't like "Enter", though.
