1024px theme for WordPress
Ok, I was a bit wrong in my last post. I thought I would need to wait with the release of new material, but a sudden attack of inspiration tricked me into porting my 1024px XHTML/CSS template into a complete, Widgets-enabled 1024px theme for WordPress. The theme keeps the same simple style as the template, and the simplicity is the whole point.
However, this is still a completely untested theme which has not yet gone through any quality checks or bug hunts. While the code should validate without any problems, there may still be strange errors and bugs in the theme. During the weekend I will make an effort to polish the code and make sure that the theme keeps a good quality, but I'm releasing this first version anyway. Feel free to try it out, and please let me know if you find some bug in it! General comments and suggestions are of course also very welcome.
The theme is hosted on themes.wordpress.net, so you can preview it live before you download it. Here is a screenshot (click to go to the theme page):

Nice! I love that template, I use it for my business site. I guess I might use the WP theme instead of the static pages I have now… (yes… I have a site with static pages with php includes ;) It started out so small and simple that it seemed pointless to use WP)

Personally, I find the original design to be pretty boring. It was created for people to use as a basic layout to which they could add their own style. But most people still use it in the plain original style, to my surprise. Go use it, it would be really fun to actually see someone use this theme version!

…and that's wrong. :D
This is a great conversion of a brilliant design. The wordpress.net theme viewer reveals one problem though: The images inside posts could use a float-Style.
Thank you for this great theme and keep up these "sudden attacks of inspiration"! ;-)

Andreas, I've just finished translating this theme to spanish. The file is located at: http://www.frankpereiro.com/descargas/1024px-10-spanish.zip
Tell me if that's ok with you before I offer it to the masses, LOL

Henning: That is intentional. The single most common question I have got for WP-Andreas01 is "How do I get images to display as in other themes?" - which means without any float. It is easy to add the float for those who wants it. No matter which way I do it, there will be people who wants something different…
Fransisco: Thanks a lot for the translation! Go release it! Since you have commented this post, people can download it directly from here. But be prepared that I may update the theme in a few days - if there are any bugs that needs to be fixed.

No problem, Andreas. If there's any change I'll update the translation.
Thanks,

Andreas,
I had absolutely loved using your theme… umm… I think it was called "Andreas09 2.0"..
I love the red color scheme. But now, I suppose you did something to make some of the words, like titles and links, etc, appear blood RED too. And that, I absolutely dislike.
I'm very reluctant to have to switch my blog theme to something else…. however, the RED RED words right now are making my blog look like some kinda scary, danger zone.
Could you please revert this theme back it how it used to be..?!?? It was so beautiful when I first selected it.

Ergo: Your blog is hosted by WordPress.com, and since I am not an admin of that site I can't do anything. What happened is that WordPress.com updated the WP-Andreas01 theme (which is made by Ainslie Johnson, not me) from version 1.5 to version 2.0 - which have colored links that matches the selected colorscheme. Most users call that a major improvement in the look. But if you don't like it, tell the WordPress.com admins about it since they are the only ones who can change it.
Or just try some other color option. If they have added the full version of the theme, there are over 20 color settings to choose from! =)

This is a great theme! I've been running WP for a few months now. I'm still on the classic theme because I like it's simplicity. I think I'll be moving over to this new theme now that I've been playing around with it. Thanks for your work, it's greatly appreciated. =)

Great theme Andreas judging by the picture in your post. Unfortunately since theme viewer is only up for a few hours each day I can't see it in action :(
