Check out my Technorati rank
It has no significance at all in reality. Nobody cares about it. It is undeserved and means nothing. I know it all, as I'm the person who said it first. But I still can't help being a little bit proud since this is something that not many people will get a chance to experience:
At the time I write this, my site is ranked #1 on Technorati.com! Technorati is monitoring more than 86 million blogs worldwide, and out of all those millions they are currently listing my blog as the one with the most "authority". Insane, undeserved - but still a bit fun! Here is a screenshot, click on it to go to the my page on Technorati…
I am sure that I will not keep the sweet numbers for any extended period of time since the majority of the links that are making up my "authority" come from sites that are using my templates and themes instead of being content links that really matters. While it shows that my work is widely popular (andreas01 is probably one of the most used website templates in the world), it doesn't mean that I deserve any "authority" in the world of blogs…
But I would still, just for the fun of it, like to take this unique chance to write a few magic words that I never thought I would be able to express again after Lagoona reached the #1 spot of the MP3.com music charts (the largest internet music chart in the world at the time) back in September 2000:
I'm on top of the world!
(And with those lovely words, I return to the reality where my desk needs to be cleaned, dinner needs to be cooked and the dogs need to be walked. Once that is done, I'm going to spend a few more hours answering e-mails from a few of all the template and theme users that I can thank for getting a chance to write this post…)

That's a really great news btw. I think the Technorati rank is based on numer of links that links to Your blog and the Technorati rank see that alot of people use Your templates (I use it on my blog).

Hej Andreas, and congratulations for that! But, with that authority your blog must have more traffic and more money feedback. If you run your site on Adsensemeter.com your site will get about U$s 3.621 to August but with this rank you must have bigger devolutions. Anyway many here from (around the web) will be happy for you. I think your big goal point was at make your templates 100% free. 'Cause many suppost "free open source & mind" have one or two free templates and the rest are expensive, so they have a blend actitude. Ok, congratulations again.

Thanks! No "coach", I don't get any significant amount of visitors from Technorati at all. I am a theme/template designer, so I am locked out from most Technorati features because of credit links. That is why I write that the #1 rank has no significance in reality.

Andreas, you should not really downplay your Technorati rating, you are starting to sound Canadian. We (canadians) never like to gloat about our success. Your rating should be viewed as a vote on your success as a designer. Plenty of people have released as many wordpress templates as you but are they number 1? No because your templates are better and therefore more people use them. So don't downplay your success, just enjoy it as you clean up your desk.

read somewhere that your Technorati ranking is not permanent, after 180 days if there's no changes to the ranking you might get down the rank again. :(
So make sure a continous effort is made especially if you had join the Technorati Train….don't let it die…or risk plonking the rank and starting all over again…

tc: The rank itself is no help to me, as people can't find me through Technorati anyway. Since I'm excluded from the official listings, the only good use I have from Technorati is that I find new blogs and sites that are using my designs. And I learn a lot from looking at how people use my work, so Technorati is still very useful in that sense.
However, the number of sites linking to me because of the templates has constantly been going up for two years now, so I think that the high rank on Technorati will last for a while unless they kick me out completely. And I can't see any reason for them to do that, as I send them more visitors than they send me… :)
