sNews: Small but strong CMS
Some time ago I discovered a small open source news publishing script called sNews. I got curious and tested it (an early beta at that time), and I was amazed by the strength that the little script had. sNews is a small PHP script (one file only!) written by Luka Cvrk of the Croatian development team Solucija, and it gives a set of functions that allow web designers to add basic content management features to their websites. The latest version of sNews (1.3) features a MySQL database connection, a blog (or news article publishing) with support for RSS and categories, dynamic generation of menus and "recent articles" lists, paged comments, a simple admin interface and image uploads just to mention some of the features.
In the last couple of months, sNews has evolved into a great mini-CMS, and it has got a little fanclub consisting of web designers who assist in in the development in different ways. I have suggested a number of features which have been added, and some of my designs will soon be available, made into sNews templates by Albert of AWD design. I will use sNews for future projects for sure, and I recommend strongly!
