WordPress.com surprise

19 March, 2006 (17:57) | Template news, Webdesign | By: Andreas

Andreas04 by Tara Aukerman added to WordPress.com

It is Theme Friday on WordPress.com again, and two new themes have been added to the site. One of those new themes was a big surprise to me: Andreas04 by Tara Aukerman!

This was really nice, and of course a good boost for the inspiration. Unfortunally, the credits section of the theme has been modified so neither Tara or I are mentioned in the footer, but I have kindly asked the admins to add it back so people who like the theme can find the original theme (and the original design template) in an easy way.

Edit: I got an e-mail from Matt, saying that the credits are back again. Thanks! I'll check it out tomorrow.

Edit 2: Yes, my name is added back in the footer. However, Tara's name is still not there so it looks like I built the theme. I didn't. I made the original design, and I missed one serious bug that made it all the way to WordPress.com: The post date disappears in IE. But I didn't build the WordPress theme version, that is Tara's work. So send comments on the design to me, and comments on the theme to Tara. And most importantly, remember that any bugs you find on WordPress.com should be reported through the feedback form in your admin area.

Comments can be only posted for 14 days after the post date. If you have comments about an older post such as this one, feel free to send me an e-mail!

That's cool! Good job!

and now if we can get you to put your WP-Andreas01 theme up (hint-hint) and stop teasing us :)

I cannot believe those people removed the credits. You created a beautiful open source template and release it for free use, and all you're asking for is to have a mention in it … i don't understand why they did it. Hope they put you back on it soon

Hej,

I love your Andreas04 theme. Very cool design. Slick home and about pages.

I would like it to fill the screen by 100% and leave no 8-10mm unused screen space. The new post creator should fitt with the theme. Today it does not. Full design window creates posting larger than fixed frame.

Maximun space for text and pictures and links etc, please.

I admir your great job. You help people to fantastic free Blogs. You are helping people. That is god.

Johnny Freedom: Thanks! However, the Andreas04 theme is not mine. It was built by Tara Aukerman based on one of my `[website template designs->templates]. I had not tested Andreas04 myself before it was added to wordpress.com, so I didn't have any chance to suggest changes or corrections to my initial design. If you want to suggest any changes, you need to send your requests to Tara or through the feedback feature in your wordpress.com admin area.

I've done a port of this beautiful template to blogger. Do I need to inform Tara Aukerman about this? BTW nice job!

hi there,
downloaded andres04 from Wordpress, and although most of it loads brilliantly, i get the error
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_theme_switcher() in /home/jebadel/public_html/home/wp-content/themes/andreas04/sidebar.php on line 41" under the Themes section. Any suggestions on how to fix?

GREAT THEME! but I think I've found a bug. The more link doesn't work with this theme. I've changed the Page Template (page.php) and added "" but the "read more" link never appears. Any ideas?
