WP-theme: Daleri Dark

25 May, 2007 (01:58) | Template news, Themes, Webdesign, WordPress | By: Andreas

Here is the first new release in a long time. The first WordPress theme in the new "Daleri" design series has now been released, and it was given the name Daleri Dark.

Please note that it is not the final release. The theme is still in an early stage of development, and it will be updated with both new features and other changes as soon as I have got some feedback on it. Don't expect it to be good, and please keep in mind that it has a couple of experimental features that you need to use with care. But feel free to play around with it, try different things and let me know if you find something useful that I can add to the theme!

And whatever you do, don't judge the new template series from this first theme. It will be a good mix, just like the andreasXX series. The WordPress themes page is terribly bad right now, but it is only temporary while I re-organize the content for the upcoming design refresh. Once the new design goes live, each template and theme will have its own page on the site where you will find additional material and replacement images among other things.

Right now, two new WordPress themes are in the final stage of editing now: Daleri Diary (a simple 2-column blog layout) and Daleri Selection (more advanced 3-column portal design that was built for andreasviklund.com). Which of those two would you want to see on Daleri.com next?

Well it's a bit hard to decide. The thing is that there are lots of blog users, but also a lot of people use wordpress as a cms. So i would say the 3 columns one because 3 columns designs that are nice are very hard to find ;)

Andreas, I would go for the 3-column portal design. In several cases, the 3-column structure permits a better content arrangement than the 2-column structure.

Yes, of course. The thing that makes the 2-column design an option is that I am planning to use the 3-column design on this site - and I want to get it online here before I show it anywhere else. Perhaps it is time to just switch to the new andreasviklund.com theme now? :)

No, this theme the best. All of us have got used to it, we know where that, new it is good, but is strong changes.

I don't agree with Design. I (we maybe) want a reboot :D

I am currently running the new andreasviklund.com design (the 3-column Daleri Selection) on another site, the locked andreasviklund.se. The much more simple 2-column version (Daleri Diary) is currently live on Daleri.com, where I keep on changing things every now and then. I hope to finish the 2-column version tonight - and release it as a WP-theme tomorrow.

Design: The new design is quite similar to the current design. You will know where to find everything, since the layout will be mostly familiar. The biggest design change will be the extra sidebar column - the design will require 1024px screen width. The largest changes will be related to the content, as several pages will be removed and others will be re-organized or expanded. You'll see, but don't worry about it!

CoolGoose: I'll launch it soon. And I will release it so that others can use the same theme as well - even though I may not include any of the customized details that I will have on my own site. If you (or anyone else) want to preview the design and give me feedback on it, let me know and I'll give you accounts on the locked test site.

Andreas, One thing that I noticed about the new theme is the archive set up. On this sites archives page its set up like a sitemap which is great for looking for older articles. Is the Daleri archive going to be the same. It does not look like it.

I test the comment on Daleri it look's very good but I want to see "more advanced 3-column portal design" on next Daleri project. Greetings

I like the Daleri design. Although I'm more into lighter designs, the one on the daleri.com is kind of perfect, only the header is too dark and doesn't mix with the content, should be more transparent (don't know how to express otherwise) - That's just my opinion.

The Daleri design is great - The 3 column one should fit better because a 3 column site is more customizable.

I think that working on developing the 3 column theme would be a better project. There is a lack of good three column themes but plenty of two column ones.

Hi Andreas, I'm relatively new to Wordpress, about 2 months and i use andreas09 for my main J.Geils Band site at http://www.funkyjudge.net/geils/.
It's fantastic and does everything i ever wanted a site to do, thank you.

For my MP3 site I've been looking for a dark wide 2 column theme but have yet to find one that i like. All tend to be narrow. The Daleri Dark theme could be just what I'm after. I'm trying it out now and look forward to it's development. You can see it at http://www.bostonmonkey.net/geils/

One thing I've noticed though is that in the archives and categories the image of the original post does not appear. Some of my older posts are linked images. Is this something that can be added in future updates.

Thank you

Francis
