New template and updates soon

Post 254 of 262

The two latest templates, Variant Portal and Variant Rounded, have been available for almost two weeks now. They have been downloaded more than 1600 times since the release and live websites built from the designs are starting to appear. I have got a lot of positive feedback, as well as useful comments on missing features and possible improvements for both templates. I have made some updates to Variant Portal with some of the most common requests in mind, and later today I will release an updated version of it. I will also release a new template, a kind of massive one in terms of file size and features for being made by me. Stay tuned for a release announcement later today.

As a side note, I have a request. If you post comments to a blog entry on andreasviklund.com, please use your own name or an established nickname rather than using keywords relevant for the site you write in the URL field. While I appreciate all kinds of feedback, I would rather get comments from people than from keywords!

And finally, two updates have been made to the site itself. The [contact form->contact] is online again, feel free to use it if you want to get in touch with me directly. Just make sure that I am the right person to contact, I still get a lot of e-mails about content on other peoples (template-based) websites. And the music section has been removed, with the songs now available on my purevolume.com page rather than on this website. From now on, andreasviklund.com is all about topics related to web design.

As usual I’ll be waiting for the updates. Can’t wait to see the new, massive one!

Hey Andreas your templates are very nice. I’ll hope you update them regularly! I appreciate your work very much.

It would be useful to check the sites using your new templates; maybe their owners built some themes for different CMS. It could be a good idea to contact them and to make the “themizations” available for download too.

Hehe Leandro indeed a bit frustrating to read that there will be new stuff soon and no link to check it out immediately!

Hi andreas,

I have a question for you, besides make free themes do you also accept order to modify or costumize wordpres themes?

For the problem of keywords, you should look KeywordLuv plug-in for WordPress. Username and keywords, and everyone is happy.

Again disappointed by the music, but I understand that you must be dedicated to web design, since music is not their priority.
I am also a web designer (not professional, as a hobby) but I never used CSS, and I think it is time to start.
Also now my priority is music college and I am his successor. I never forget that you came by my passion to dance music, and now I look a lot like you when integrated TSEC.
As always I say, success!

@David Yeah, I’ve been checking the feed/site every hour. BTW, what time is it in Sweden now? The day should be over! haha

NianJuly 8, 2010 at 19:20Reply

Leandro the time in Sweden are now 8:48 which means as you say that the day is soon over.

The new template is now online. Again a few hours after midnight, as I usually work best during the calm and silent hours of the early night when the rest of the household is sleeping. I hope that you’ll find Variant Fashion useful!

Glad to see that your music just moved, and isn’t gone!

Cheers,

Chris

I really enjoyed your music back in the days when I was learning with Fasttracker 2. I didn’t reach your level however… :P Sometimes I listen to your tunes, feels like a bit of nostalgia from my teen years. Good to see you still keep the music online!
