I have never been a fan of light-on-dark websites. I find them harder to read, and they often remind me about the old times when complex layouts with nested table layouts were considered trendy. Basically the late 1990’s. But I know that a lot of people disagree with that opinion, and more dark templates are requested every now and then. Inspired by the old days I have created Variant Dark, an image-free 3-column layout with several shades of dark grey and dotted borders. And two strong accent colors to go with that. Of course built with standards-compliant code and without any tables involved in creating the layout.
This template is probably not for everyone, it is definitely not the kind of color combination I would want to use myself. But I hope that someone will find it useful. This is what Variant Dark looks like, click the screenshot to download the template .zip (only 3 Kb):

Slick. I like it.
I really like the dark view. It is much more easier and convenient to read.
