The HTML5 logo has been presented

As I continue experimenting with HTML5, I ran across the official HTML5 logo from W3C today. In an effort to promote the upcoming standard (which is still a “working draft” and not an official standard yet), the new logo is intended to make developers and designers to discover the many new possibilities that HTML5 provides. Here is a quote from the logo site:

“HTML5 is the cornerstone of the W3C’s open web platform; a framework designed to support innovation and foster the full potential the web has to offer. Heralding this revolutionary collection of tools and standards, the HTML5 identity system provides the visual vocabulary to clearly classify and communicate our collective efforts.”

The logo presentation site is full of buzzwords, but I can’t help feeling that the big language makes perfect sense: HTML5 is really exciting – even for basic template design. Not just for its advanced features, but also because it is well-structured and makes sense. It is beautiful code, in my eyes…

Free HTML5 templates on andreasviklund.com

In the free templates gallery on this site, there is so far only one template written using HTML5: Variant Mobile. During the next couple of months I will be rewriting and publishing a number of the other templates into HTML5, as well as releasing new templates written in HTML5. To keep up with the HTML5 templates on this site, I recommend keeping an eye on the blog archive for the “HTML5” tag. If there is any special template you would want to se rewritten, let me know and I’ll make it a priority.
