Just a short note: A new version of WordPress has been released. WordPress 3.3.1 is called a “security and maintenance release”, and it fixes a number of issues found in the recent v3.3 release. As always, updating to the latest release is highly recommended.

I just read on my blog that it is available now:
“WordPress 3.3.1 is available! Please update now.”
Is it always required to update to the latest version?
Can’t also see what version my blog is now, although it is just a few months old
It is not a requirement, but for security reasons it is always recommended to stay up-to-date by using the latest version of WordPress – provided that your web host support it and the theme and plugins of your choice are compatible with the latest version (which most themes and plugins should be). In most newer versions of WordPress, you can see the version number in the bottom right part of the footer in the WordPress administration area.
@Gil
Update to the latest version and your blog are save.
I also saw that most of my plugins have newer versions, including my present theme. Maybe I should upgrade everything since I haven’t done it ever. I’m a little worried my blog might be messed and and I can’t change it back.
